Edoardo Traversa specialises both in direct and indirect taxation (specifically VAT), in particular in their European and international dimensions. He has also developed an expertise in constitutional tax law, specifically regarding fiscal federalism and human rights.
In these areas, he advises both the private sector (corporate, non-profit and individual clients) and public authorities. He also represents clients in case of litigation before domestic and European courts.
He is referenced as “Global Leader: Corporate Tax Expert 2019” in the Who’s Who Legal ranking.
He has published numerous studies, particularly Corporate Residence and Mobility (IBFD, 2018), State Aid Law and Business Taxation (Springer, 2016) and Value Added Tax and the Digital Economy (Kluwer, 2016), and is often invited as a speaker in Belgium and abroad.
He teaches Belgian tax law and European and international tax law at UCLouvain, as well as VAT at KU Leuven.
Edoardo holds a law degree (UCLouvain), a doctorate in tax law (UCLouvain and University of Bologna) and a diploma in German law (Humboldt-Universität-Berlin).
