Marie Lamensch specialises in indirect taxes and more specifically VAT, its Belgian, EU and international dimensions. She advises and represents businesses in tax disputes before administrative authorities and courts and tribunals.
Marie also serves as Professor of tax law at UCLouvain and regularly acts as a VAT expert for international organisations such as the European Union, the OECD, and the United Nations.
She is the author of numerous leading publications on taxation, published in both Belgian and international specialist journals, and frequently speaks as a lecturer at international conferences. She also leads training sessions at the International Tax Academy (IBFD).
Marie Lamensch graduated in law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2004). She also holds an LL.M. in International and European Law (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 2006) and a PhD in law (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 2014). Her thesis, dedicated to the VAT treatment of electronic services, earned her the prestigious “Maurice Lauré Prize” awarded by the International Fiscal Association.
